Full statement

Educated at Bannockburn Primary and Secondary schools, William began his working life at 15 as an apprentice baker at Ballantynes Bakery in St. Ninians. He later worked for Stirling Council in the Parks Department before embarking on a long career as an HGV driver.

William’s commitment to his local community is evident in his active participation in local affairs. He has consistently shown a keen interest in current events and politics, which has now led him to stand as the Reform UK candidate for the Stirling East by-election on 5th December 2024.

As a candidate, William is passionate about addressing key local issues:

Advocating for increased police presence and improved community engagement from Forth Valley Police Scotland. Supporting community-led initiatives like the popular Book Swap Shed in Braehead and Broomridge.

Championing projects that enhance local spaces and strengthen community bonds, such as the Friends of Mayfield’s efforts to revitalise the Mayfield Community Centre’s garden.

William believes in the power of grassroots action and is committed to being a strong, locally-based voice for Stirling East. He aims to bridge communication gaps between local authorities and residents, ensuring that community concerns are heard and addressed effectively.

“As someone who has lived and worked in this area all my life, I understand the challenges we face,” says William. “I’m committed to bringing positive change to our community and ensuring that local voices are heard in the council chamber.”
