Statement to voters

Hello, I’m Mike Bates, your Green Party candidate for Much Woolton and Hunts Cross.

Full statement

I am a teacher, a father of three, and a passionate advocate for fairness, sustainability, and strong communities. I’m standing in this by-election because I believe our ward deserves a representative who listens, understands, and works hard to make a real difference.

My priorities include: ✅ Protecting Woolton Woods and green spaces – ensuring they are safeguarded from overdevelopment for the benefit of current and future generations.

✅ Tackling traffic and improving road safety – making Woolton Village safer for cyclists, pedestrians, and families.

✅ Improving local services – from cleaner streets and better bin collections to well-maintained roads that reflect the needs of our community.

✅ Supporting local businesses – helping Woolton Village and Hunts Cross thrive by prioritising local, independent shops.

✅ Acting on climate change – pushing for practical solutions like better public transport and safer cycling routes to reduce congestion and pollution.

As a teacher, I understand the importance of creating opportunities for young people. As a parent, I know how essential it is to protect and improve our community for future generations.

If elected, I will work tirelessly to represent your concerns at the Council, ensuring your voice is heard. Together, we can build a greener, fairer, and more connected future for Much Woolton and Hunts Cross.

On 23 January, vote for the Green Party. Vote for real change.
