Statement to voters
First moved to towcester in 1984 to work at Plessey my job was to make warships invisible to guided missiles (we were somewhat successful!) On moving to Unilever I set up a research team that invented the device that made chips crisp in the microwave but also designed the basic technology that 20 years later made the mass testing for covid possible.
Full statement
I went on to be a senior technology manger for Unilever and worked all over the world.
I had a major career change and then spent 25 years as a Baptist minister in Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire before retiring back to Towcester in 2022. I loved being part of a movement that cares about people.
In retirement in 2022 we found a very different Towcester than what we left but still with great people and a real sense of community.
I’ve been involved with youth work for 40 years this Sept. Always in the voluntary sector, sometimes leading and setting it up often in national initiatives and ,as now, a volunteer every week which I love.
I have served as a community school gov for more than 15 years and 10 years as chair in three separate primary schools . The last was a Superb school in terms of SEND which is where I have my passion from.
I have recently volunteered to serve at our local Renew well-being cafe but have been involved in setting up a similar but smaller cafe in Leicestershire.
Finally, like many church ministers , unfortunately, I was involved in setting up and volunteering in a village foodbank in Cambridgeshire, with the help of Trussell Trust and had the privilege to help people who had reached a very difficult point for their family.
Of course the most important thing is I’ve been married 45 years have 3 grown up children and 5 grandchildren.
