David Bell is your Conservative candidate for the new Swadlincote West Division covering Newhall and nearby areas on May 1st's Derbyshire County Council election.

He was born in London into a military family and after moving quite a bit he and his parents settled in Northern Ireland.

After school David trained as an electrician and worked extensively in the construction industry. He also spent time in shipbuilding including two years in Canada building frigates for the Canadian Navy.

David spent a lot of time working in London as an electrical engineer. Just before Covid David took up a role with the ambulance service and worked solidly through this period keeping the ambulance stations operating during this difficult time.

In 2022 David and his wife of 42 years moved to South Derbyshire to be closer to their expanding family. He currently works as a project manager for Loughborough University on a major student accommodation project.

David and his family have been blown away by South Derbyshire and its people we have been overwhelmed by the welcome and the friendliness of its people, everyone has time to talk. They have spent the last three years exploring the area and its beautiful scenery.

David believes in keeping things local and is a believer in the adage keep your town in business by keeping your business in town, he believes in buying local and demonstrates this by recent purchases of carpets and furniture and new front doors from local Swadlincote businesses. He believes in the future of Swadlincote and believe everyone should support local traders in improving the town and making it a go to place for retail and leisure.

David plays golf badly but tries and also enjoys ballroom dancing and travel having cruised extensively. He is a hard working family man who looks to the future rather than dwelling on the past and will do his best to represent the residents of Swadlincote West.
