Kieran Mark Collins's policies
Statement to voters
I’m a management accountant focused on operational effectiveness, cost management, and delivering value-for money services.
Full statement
I’m committed to community service and
volunteer regularly. I believe public servants should serve
you, but our County Council doesn’t. I think the LibDem and
Green Alliance misspends your money on Oxford-centric vanity
projects and anti-driver policies, which hurts rural residents
reliant on cars for work, school, and amenities.
My platform rests on two principles:
ACCOUNTABILITY: I’ll challenge the status quo for
transparent, responsible governance.
VALUE FOR MONEY: I’ll push for wise spending so our villages
get their fair share.
I WILL WORK TO ENSURE THE FOLLOWING:
BETTER AND SAFER ROADS
Fix Our Potholes! Our roads are a disgrace. Maintenance of our
roads over the past 4 years has NOT been a priority for the Lib
Dem/Green-led administration at Oxfordshire County Council but
it will be for Reform UK.
OCC needs to allocate more money to fi xing potholes,
resurfacing rural roads, cleaning drains and maintaining verges.
The ‘war on motorists’ needs to stop. I will work to improve
roads that are a safety risk by providing pedestrian crossings
where they are needed.
SAFER STREETS
I will work with Thames Valley Police to stop the blight of anti
social behaviour in our local communities, such as speeding
vehicles and shoplifting. I will fi ght the Lib Dems and Green
coalition of chaos which wants to turn off our street lights at
night. WE ALL DESERVE SAFE STREETS.
SUPPORT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Nothing is more important than helping children and young
people to thrive. That means making sure that all children,
including those with special educational needs, have access to
good local academic and vocational training. OUR CHILDREN
ARE OUR FUTURE.
PROTECTION OF THE COUNTRYSIDE
We need to stop the trashing of our countryside by speculative
development. This has been caused by disastrous Lib Dem
mismanagement of our local planning system. This will now be
compounded by the Labour Government’s announcement that it
intends to build new towns all over the country.
I believe that the right homes should be in the right places with
the right infrastructure, with the latter to include good schools
and medical centres. Much of the fl ooding we have experienced
has been due to bad planning and building in high-risk areas.
CUTTING COUNCIL TAX AND AN END TO
WASTING MONEY
Oxfordshire County Council has been run by the Lib Dems and
their Green comrades for 4 years. Its own residents’ survey
showed that just 32% of the local electorate think that the
council provides value for money. We have also seen record
council tax hikes over recent years with no improved services.
THAT IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Local councillors should work for local residents on local issues.
Sadly, the Liberal Democrats have wasted OUR money. While
banging on about national and international issues and spending
millions introducing unwanted traffi c schemes in Oxford, our
rural towns and villages have lost investment.
THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
STANDING UP FOR DRIVERS
Many of us in rural areas rely on our cars, and yet we are
penalised by this council. This will only get worse if they are
re-elected. The chaos of Oxford’s roads and its anti-motorist
measures will spread to our rural towns as well. I will stand up
for motorists while also improving public transport services.
EQUAL SPENDING ON RURAL ROADS
For every £1 the council spends on roads in Oxford, only 78p
goes on rural roads, despite residents’ increased reliance on
them. I will make sure that money is spent fairly and on what’s
important to residents.
