Statement to voters
Mackenzie has always been politically engaged, believing that decisions made at all levels of government have a direct impact on people’s lives.

However, in recent years, he has witnessed a growing disconnect between politicians and the people they serve.
"Over the last 5–8 years, I have seen a complete disconnect between the population and politics. People are playing games with other people’s futures. Reform was a breath of fresh air—not afraid to tackle issues head-on. Their approach to immigration, the cost of living, and the status of our nation is what caught my eye."
His experience running a local football club has given him a first-hand understanding of the struggles people face. Rising costs are crippling grassroots sports and making it harder for young people to stay active.
"The cost to play football locally is now crippling for most local organisations. I have seen lads struggle to make ends meet and have to give up their football just to afford their life. This is what I hope to change—this is what is stopping the nation from being as prosperous as it once was."
Why Mackenzie is Standing for Rossendale East
Mackenzie’s desire to serve his community began when he saw how sports facilities were becoming monopolised, making it harder for local clubs to survive. However, his concerns go far beyond football—he wants to be a voice for the many young people in Rossendale who feel ignored by the political system.
"There are a lot of young people in Rossendale who want change—both locally and nationally. Yet, they have no one in a position of power to relate to. I believe that by standing for council, I can encourage young people to make their voices heard, get out and vote, and push for real change in our local area."
Key Issues Mackenzie Will Fight For
Rossendale East has been neglected for too long, with the current Labour-led council ignoring the real concerns of local residents. Mackenzie is standing to put the people first and tackle the issues that matter.
🌳 Protecting Our Green Spaces
Stopping overdevelopment that destroys our countryside.
Ensuring new housing projects are properly planned and don’t overwhelm local services.
🏛 Preserving Local Heritage
Halting the dismantling of Rossendale’s history under the guise of “restoration.”
Fighting for proper investment in historic sites that respect their character and significance.
🚧 Fixing Our Roads
Addressing poor road conditions across Rossendale East.
Pushing for urgent repairs and better long-term road maintenance.
"These are the issues local people want fixing, yet Labour councillors have turned a blind eye to residents. That’s why I’m standing—to change this."
A Strong Local Voice for Rossendale East
Mackenzie is committed to standing up for residents, ensuring that their concerns are heard at Lancashire County Council. He believes in cutting wasteful spending, holding decision-makers accountable, and prioritizing the real needs of local people.
