Statement to voters
Hello, I’m Sajjad Khan, and St Ives isn’t just where I live—it’s where my heart beats.
Full statement
I’m raising my young family here, watching my kids giggle in our local schools, waving to familiar faces on our streets, and dreaming of a future where they grow up safe, proud, and able to contribute positively to society. This town wraps me in its warmth every day, and I know you feel it too—the sense of belonging that makes us a family.
But I also feel the ache of our struggles: streets that don’t always feel like home, buses that leave us stranded, roads that rattle our nerves, schools that could shine brighter for our little ones, and a Council Tax that sometimes stings more than it should. These aren’t just challenges—they’re my worries too, because I’m living this life with you, pouring my soul into the same hopes you hold.
Since becoming your Town Councillor in October 2024, and as a former Magistrate—appointed by the Crown in 2021—I’ve given my all to this community. I’ve fought for safer corners where our kids can play, pushed for buses we can trust to get us home, and demanded chances for our young ones to dream big. I’ve pushed for transparency because you deserve to be heard. This isn’t just voluntary service —it’s love, and I’ve rolled up my sleeves to prove it, because St Ives is my home, and I’d do anything to see it thrive.
Here’s my heart on the table—what I’ll fight for at County Hall:
✔ Safer Streets – More visible policing, better street lighting, and real action on anti-social behaviour.
✔Better Public Transport – Buses that show up when we need them, a last bus home so no one’s left stranded, especially young girls who shouldn’t be put in risky situations.
✔ Stronger Infrastructure – Roads that hold us steady and don’t break our cars or jolt us like an earthquake, and cause us stress.
✔ Opportunities for Young People – Schools bursting with possibility, youth spaces that lift them up, and paths to futures we’re proud of.
✔ Value for Your Money – Every penny of Council Tax turned into care for our town, not wasted, all spending must be transparent.
These are the fights I’ll take to County Hall if elected—rooted in the life I live here with you. County Hall is where our future gets shaped, and I’m ready to be your voice—loud and clear.
On May 1st, 2025, this election is about us—our families, our neighbours, the home we’ve built together. You’ve got a choice:
The same old Tory shrugs, who disappeared after the 2021 election, or me—someone who is active, listens, takes action, and stands up for our community with passion. Don’t let your vote drift to someone who hasn’t been around—I’ll fight for you like it’s my own family on the line.
This is about us, about belonging, about a St Ives North & Wyton that holds us tight and lifts us up. On May 1st, vote for me, Sajjad Khan, because I’m woven into this place just like you. With my experience, my endless love for our town, and a passion that won’t let me sit still, I’m the only choice to carry your voice. Don’t let your vote slip away.
