Statement to voters

Dedication to Sawtry
As a Sawtry resident for 21 years, my dedication to our community, passion for making a positive impact, and drive to ensure our village thrives is at the heart of everything I do.

Full statement

Having attended local schools and recently bought my first home here, I am deeply invested in our village's future.

A Proven Track Record
I have a proven track record of delivering results for our area as Sawtry's proven voice. I don’t just talk—I take action. Together with the community, we successfully saved the Sawtry Swimming Pool and got it back open, and I have actively fought against speculative development.

Crucial Elections for Our Future
This year’s elections are more crucial than ever. Your councillor won’t just need to tackle our crumbling roads and bursting GP surgery by demanding an "infrastructure first" approach—they will also play a key role in shaping our community through challenges like local government reorganisation.

Experience You Can Trust
Combining my experience as a business owner, Councillor, and Leader of the Opposition, I know how to navigate the system to deliver for Sawtry. Working daily as the right-hand man to our MP, Ben Obese-Jecty, I am well-equipped to achieve our shared vision.

Holding the Council Accountable & Keeping More Money in Your Pocket
Like many of you, I have watched the current Lib Dem-led HDC make poor decisions, such as waving through development on the "Land South of Sawtry" without even requiring an Environmental Impact Assessment.

Furthermore, I am committed to keeping more money in your pocket. Every penny the Council holds is your money, and while other parties demand more of your hard-earned cash, I believe no-one knows how to spend your money better than you do. That is why we proposed freezing Council Tax this year, and it will be the default if we take control.

My Plan for Sawtry
Now more than ever, we need a strong, experienced Conservative voice to sit at the top table and fight for Sawtry's fair share.

My plan for the Sawtry Ward is clear, ambitious, and achievable if we work together. On 7th May, vote for the strong local choice—vote Ross Martin and Simon Bywater.
