Statement to voters

As a lifetime Bridgnorthian, I'm proud to be standing for both Shropshire Council and Bridgnorth Town Council in the May local elections.

Full statement

I've spent the last year campaigning to save the New Market Buildings on Listley Street, collecting nearly 1600 signatures in a petition asking Shropshire Council to take action against the absentee owner, who has left the building to crumble.

After presenting the petition to Shropshire Council, a motion was passed committing them to engage further with the stakeholders and myself in an effort to restore the building. I'm looking forward to working with each stakeholder, and I won't stop working until this historic Bridgnorth landmark is back in community use again.

Meanwhile, I organised Bridgnorth's first ever Pride parade last June, which saw over 300 people turn out in support of our local LGBTQ+ community. I spent 4 months clearing overgrowth from Castle Walk ready for the parade, and I was proud to be able to involve our local businesses too, with many holding events in collaboration. The day is for everyone, no matter how you identify, so the whole town benefits from the increased footfall and festive atmosphere.

I have lived in Bridgnorth since birth, attending St Leonard's nursery, St. John's and Bridgnorth Endowed. My parents live here too, whilst my Nan also lives in Innage Grange care home. I visit her every evening after work and see the vital work the care team provides, so I understand how important well-funded social care is for our older residents.

In my spare time, you may spot me painting window art on the High Street phone box, which I repaint each month in an effort to brighten up the area outside my flat. I also work hard to clean the High Street litter bins, which no longer get cleaned by Shropshire Council, and I work alongside Bridgnorth Community Gardeners, who voluntarily maintain many areas of town.

Bridgnorth is a beautiful town, but under Conservative-run Shropshire Council, it has been neglected and sidelined for too long.

If you appreciate the work I already do for Bridgnorth, please support me in May. As your councillor, I would give Bridgnorth a stronger voice, representing your interests and fighting Bridgnorth's corner. I'll continue my work to enhance our town, and work even harder to promote Bridgnorth as the jewel we all know it to be.
