Statement to voters
I am standing for election as your County Councillor for Horsley Division for Reform UK.
Full statement
I love this area. I previously lived in Morley and now I live in Heage. I'm heartbroken about numerous things which are happening in the area, especially the planning applications that threaten to destroy the beautiful landscape and wildlife habitats, including the application for 200 houses on the green belt at Horsley Road Kilburn with its potential for causing flooding and highways congestion.
I am opposed to putting solar panels on agricultural land. Farmland needs to be for producing food to feed our nation. It is vital for our food security!
I am also fighting the proposed installation of 50m electricity pylons which would cut through the heart of Horsley Division, Amber Valley and Derbyshire. If elected I pledge to fight for measures to calm the traffic which speeds through our villages and to help to deal with parking problems around the area.
I’m a fully qualified Chartered Management Accountant with extensive business experience. Nowadays I enjoy running my small farm and doing my bit to help put ethical and sustainable food on people’s tables. I have many years of experience working extremely hard and proudly serving as a Derbyshire County Councillor, Borough Councillor and Town Councillor. I have done voluntary work all my life and for the past few years I have been helping as a volunteer with a food bank.
During my time as a Derbyshire County Councillor, I served on different committees and I am proud of my many achievements which include;
• Serving on the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Authority
• Chair of the Scrutiny Committee
• Cabinet Support Member for Education
• Serving on the Derbyshire Police Authority
• Setting up youth clubs
• Setting up neighbourhood watch groups
• Fighting inappropriate planning developments
• Introducing locally produced sustainable food on to the menu at Derbyshire County Council Schools
• Setting up free of charge community boxing clubs for young children to reduce antisocial behaviour
• Introducing flashing-up speed signs and community speed watches to deter drivers driving at excessive speeds on the roads.
I’m a proud single parent of three sons, who I have brought up on my own. Two are now serving in the Royal Air Force and one works for Severn Trent Water.
It would be an absolute honour to represent you and do my bit to fight for the interests of all the residents of Horsley Division at Derbyshire County Council.
I very much hope to have the opportunity to serve you.
Please support me on January 20th 2026.
Thank you.
Very Best Wishes Juliette 😊
