I grew up in neighbouring Midway & Swadlincote & now live in Branston . I have lived in & around Burton for the last 26 years.I’m married with 6 children & soon to be 9 grandchildren . Family & the Burton communities we all live in are my priorities & motivation for standing in this election . My background is 44+ years in the rail industry both engineering & for the last 20+ years, in business & major projects management. However, until recently I’ve never been a member of any political party & I am certainly not a career politician . I am first & foremost a member of the local tax paying community like yourselves who wants better.
The current incumbent parties at the council have spent decades presiding over a year-on-year decline in our local community services & infrastructure while at the same time asking us to pay more & more.
Of course, we face some challenging financial realities. It is precisely why we need a laser like focus on how we spend your money & address basic community needs before we indulge the nice-to-haves. We need to scrutinise & challenge every penny expended by the council to drive the maximum benefit in return . We need to halt the decline by getting the basics right, social & children services, highways & drainage, undercurrent of anti-social behaviours, cleanliness & quality of services & community environments. By improving these we can again have pride in where we live.
My agenda will be your agenda, my community is & will remain your community, It is my taxes along with yours that I want to get the best possible return from for our community.
Voting for the same tired & failed parties will not change the direction of travel. The only way to effect change is to vote for change. I am standing as your Reform UK candidate for that change. I ask you to lend your trust & your vote to me, foremost as a member of your community, so I can represent you & stand up for what our communities need. Vote for a return to common sense family, community & country priorities. We can halt the decline & start the recovery.
