Statement to voters

I’m Jonathan Pyke, and I’m standing as your Reform UK candidate in the 2025 county council election for Burton Trent District.

Full statement

I’m fed up—fed up with a council that overpromises and underdelivers, with roads like Rosliston Road and Main Street falling apart, and with a system that puts bureaucracy over people. That’s why I’m running with Reform UK, to bring common sense, accountability, and real change to our community.

For 15 years, I’ve worked in leadership and people management, tackling tough challenges and delivering results. I’ve streamlined processes, cut costs, and made things work better for those who depend on them. That experience has shown me what leadership should be—practical, honest, and focused on what matters. Here in Stapenhill, I see a council that’s failing us. Our roads are a disgrace—promised repairs don’t happen, and we’re left dodging potholes with no explanation. If you elect me, I’ll dig into the council’s spending, root out the waste, and make sure our streets get the attention they deserve.

Reform UK’s vision is what drives me—it’s about putting people first, not politicians or red tape. I’ve seen our local services stretched thin, from housing to healthcare, and I’ll fight to ensure our resources go to the residents who’ve paid in and built this community. County councils can’t set immigration policy, but we can set priorities, and I’ll make sure it’s our people who come first. I’ll push to slash wasteful spending too, keeping council tax hikes off the table unless they’re truly needed. Why should we pay more when the council can’t even fix what’s broken?

I don’t buy into these net zero schemes that drain our budgets and pile costs onto our bills with little to show for it. I’d rather see our money spent on what we need today—like decent roads, better social care, and support for our pensioners—than on flashy promises that don’t help Burton Trent’s Division. Reform UK is about practical solutions, and that’s what I’ll deliver: no nonsense, just results.

Listening is how I’ve always worked. In my career, I’ve brought people together, heard their concerns, and found answers that last. I’ll bring that to the council—whether you’re stuck in traffic or worried about local services, I’ll make sure your voice counts. This isn’t politics as usual for me—it’s about getting things done, with honesty and grit.

On May 1st, I’m asking for your vote. With Reform UK, we can fix our roads, rebuild trust, and take back control from the bureaucrats. Let’s reform our council—and our future—together.
