Full statement
I spent some six years as the Youth Chairman at Henley rugby club where I also coached junior teams. I spent ten years as a community referee officiating at club, school and county youth matches.
So I am used to a bit of barracking!
I helped to organise the ‘Henley Christmas Star Ball’for several years which raised significant funds for the rugby club and local charities.
As a local Council tax payer I am so incensed by our ever decreasing local services that I have decided to challenge the status quo by standing for change in this election.
The Conservatives in our division want us to vote for four more years of exactly the same again. But under their stewardship our Council tax has gone up consistently to unacceptable levels but, in my view, our local services have never been poorer.
The Lib Dems and Green Party have also let us down at District and Parish level. I walk my two small dogs every day around our pavements and roads that are in a terrible state. The local council have even allowed front boundary hedges to overgrow the pavements in a number of places so people cannot even get pushchairs and wheelchairs past without going onto our pothole ridden roads.
The road drains in my road have not been cleaned out in the last four years and several of us clean some out ourselves. This is not good value for our money.
With regard to the Labour Party people are telling me that given their record since the general election they will never trust them again and certainly not at local level.
As well as the terrible state of our roads and pavements in Oxfordshire, our SEND educational facilities are shamefully inadequate. A new approach and new thinking is required so I intend to concentrate on improving them if elected.
I feel it is time for change and certainly not more of the same old approach from the same parties and people.
I have a record of getting things done so a vote for me will be a vote for change.
