Statement to voters

It was during work visits to Alderley Park that I discovered Wilmslow and realised it was the ideal place to retire: a well-connected town where the local community values its surrounding natural environment, and with a wide offering of activities and events.

Full statement

Over the years of living here, and in my role as town councillor, I've become familiar with the practical issues residents face every day — from speeding traffic to challenges with public transport and footpath safety.

I finally retired fully in May 2025, having spent a career working on innovation in healthcare, recently including a role within the NHS. I've worked across the private and public sectors, including running a national grant-funding scheme. I've also run a small business. Through my role as Town Councillor for Lacey Green, I've worked closely with the local NHS Community Care team and developed a good understanding of the health and wellbeing needs related to our local population. I've been working with the NHS team on initiatives that could improve wellbeing in our community.

I'm an active member of Transition Wilmslow Tree Group, where I played a leading role in a campaign to improve Cheshire East Council's policy on street tree planting. This has led to an ongoing pilot programme with Cheshire East Highways based in Lacey Green, focussed on replacing missing trees in Styal Road and Manchester Road. This campaign also led to the creation of a Lacey Green Park Master Plan, working with fellow Town Councillors and Cheshire East Council's Parks team. I've been actively encouraging local residents to share their ideas on what improvements they'd like to see in their park so that grant funding can be secured to turn ideas into reality.

Another initiative has been to bring together a working group to plan Wilmslow's first Pride event, planned for September this year. With strong support from local businesses and churches, the group is now lining up its third social event for the local LGBTQ+ community. It has been very rewarding to see this local support network grow.

When I'm not busy with voluntary community activities, you might spot me running or cycling through Lacey Green or Wilmslow. In the summer I'm regularly out rock climbing or walking in the Peak District. I'm also a keen gardener and sing in a local choir.

If elected onto Cheshire East Council, I'll work to improve safe walking and cycling routes and crossings, enhance public transport connections, and of course continue to support the planting and maintenance of trees and green spaces throughout our neighbourhood. I will support fellow Wilmslow Councillors in defending our local green spaces against inappropriate development. I will support initiatives that can improve the wellbeing of local residents. I'll also be a voice for residents concerned about parking and traffic behaviour, particularly where it impacts walkers, cyclists and families.

Standing with Residents of Wilmslow, I'm not tied to any national party. I'm focused entirely on local issues, with the independence to speak up and act on what matters most to Lacey Green.
