Statement to voters
Hello, my name is John Forbes and I will be standing as a candidate in the upcoming Scottish elections in May in the Mid Scotland and Fife region representing Independence for Scotland party ISP.
Full statement
We are a Scottish party in Scotland for the people of Scotland, a true grassroots Scottish Independence party who advocates for:
Direct Democracy.
Protecting Woman's rights.
Protecting Children's rights.
Minimum Income Guarantee.
No to Freeport’s & Investment zones.About me and why am I standing.
I'm a bricklayer to trade and have worked in the construction industry since leaving high school.
I was born in Dunfermline when Dunfermline had its own maternity hospital, one of four hospitals that were in Dunfermline at that time. Unlike what Fife as a whole has now the third largest council are in Scotland with only one acute hospital and a handful of community hospitals. There was a time when getting a GP and Dentist wasn't difficult but With the rapid expansion of Mid Scotland and Fife the new houses and new families who move into them are being built without a thought of a workable infrastructure in place to support the good folk from Dunfermline and every other town and village in the mid Scotland region the reality now being folk now find it very difficult to get either a Dentist or a GP appointment this putting even more pressure on A+E and in turn causing even longer waiting times.
My education came from a primary school and high school in Dunfermline when classroom sizes were acceptable unlike what things are like now with some classroom sizes bursting at the seams leaving teachers stressed out and many leaving the profession.
I volunteer with a Fife mens suicide prevention mental health charity and see and hear first hand just how much society is broken. The cost of living crisis is making life even harder for too many sovereign scots causing many to rapidly spiral into depression.
When I left high school there were far more opportunities for employment back then for school leavers compared to the sad state of affairs now school leavers face.
I was proud to be part of the Freeport’s and special economic zone campaign group for just under two years. As a group we held public meetings all over Scotland informing the members of public who attended the public meetings just exactly what was going on where they lived, needless to say many felt angry when finding out just exactly what these abominations, states within a state, land grabs and basically privatisation of Scotland through the back door were and why were the politicians silent.
I'm standing as a candidate for the Mid Scotland and Fife region as things need to change politically in Scotland removing the feeling of being scunnered with too many of voters thinking whats the point of voting as nothing will change, Removing the thought of Sleekit when thinking of politicians as trust has been all but obliterated.
With any sort of change it has to start somewhere and as your MSP I plan through hard work to gain your trust not through words but with actions with every fibre of my being. Granted I don't have a university degree in politics, I'm a bricklayer to trade but come with a masters degree in real lived life experience so understand only too well the struggles many face both financially and mentally on a daily basis as I've travelled that road.
I believe passionately that Scotland should be an Independent sovereign nation and have a transparent Scottish political system eliminating closed door policy making with Direct Democracy returning the power to the rightful owners, every single Sovereign Scot and returning the true meaning of a public servant from what many feel that the people working for the politicians instead of what it should be the politicians working for the people.
I will be as your MSP a politician who will listen, and fight for every single constitute living in the mid Scotland and Fife region as I'm certainly not shy to putting in a hard shift.
What I won't be is the type of MSP that is visible briefly before and after an election then dissappear. Its time for Scotland to get off knees and be the successful Independent Sovereign Nation it can be.
