Statement to voters

I’m honoured to have been chosen as the SNP’s candidate for the constituency of Skye, Lochaber & Badenoch at May’s Scottish Parliament elections.

Full statement

I’m a fluent Gaelic speaker and musician, so the culture and history of the Highlands are very important to me. My husband works in the NHS in mental health nursing, and we have two sons who are in primary school.

I want to help working families by bringing bills down and improving access to affordable childcare; I want to see increased staffing investment both in education and social care; and I want to support the specific needs of rural businesses.

My background is in Gaelic media and I’ve worked in politics since 2021, based at the Scottish Parliament managing the office of the MSP for the Western Isles. I split my time between Kingussie and Edinburgh due to work, so I am already well used to the demands of a Highlands MSP’s weekly commute! We have family ties all over the constituency, and I am really looking forward to spending time speaking to voters across all the different parts of our area in the next few months ahead of May’s vote.

If elected, I will work as hard as I can to continue the progress made by Kate Forbes in ensuring the Highlands’ needs are fully considered through policy-making and in investment decisions, including by pushing for improved infrastructure, housing and public services. What we really need to enable Scotland to thrive, however, is independence - being able to make our own decisions on energy and on the economy to put money back in people’s pockets.

I’d love to hear about what’s important to you personally, so please do get in touch.
