I currently sit on the Thanington Parish Council, as a resident of Thanington and the Wincheap ward, I've seen first hand the effect that poor planning and over building is having on our community.

Our roads are a mess, and the planned 'improvements' won't make them any better, the infrastructure we're promised with every new development is rarely delivered, and we end up with poorly built and poorly planned estates with nothing to support them.

The latest Local Plan consultation is proof of this. We've successfully managed to change the plan for the Thanington Rec, we need to focus on ensuring we don't lose the Wincheap Orchard and the last remaining green spaces available to us. We need to ensure that the planned developments are reasonable in size and scope and that they have the right infrastructure in place to support residents, both existing and new.
