Statement to voters

It's time for a change.

Full statement

Scotland desperately needs a change of direction. We’ve now seen years of managed decline, dead-ends and unfulfilled promises from the SNP, perhaps unsurprising given that they originally existed as a single-issue fringe pressure group and were never intended or set up to govern. Even longstanding SNP voters and supporters are abandoning the party in droves, as demonstrated by Labour’s landslide win in the 2024 UK general election, and numerous polls and by-elections since. they need and want something else. They deserve a new, fresh, dynamic Scottish Government centred on meeting their needs and delivering their desires for a future Scotland – the vision of a strong, safe, prosperous nation within a family of nations working together for universal gain. This is so essential, in an increasingly fractured world where it is clear that more than ever before, together we will stand and divided we will fall. Only Scottish Labour can and will deliver that new direction in government.

Callum is a resident doctor, currently based in the Oban and Lorn area, with experience working both in primary care and in hospitals, especially in remote and rural areas like much of our constituency. He's seen the day-to-day reality for people dealing with the NHS whilst working on the frontline of healthcare, as well as the human end result of social and economic decline and mismanagement. He's a proven leader, campaigner and shaper of policy, having worked at a Scotland-wide and UK-wide level with the British Medical Association and the Royal College of General Practitioners, as an elected representative, committee chair and conference chair on various occasions. Before his career in medicine, he worked in transport and complex operations management for a large logistics and security provider, with a knack for continuous improvement. You may have also heard him on local radio! (he's one of the trustees of Argyll FM).
Callum is committed to the ideals of democratic socialism, co-operation, progressive reform and evidence-based policy, whilst grounded in local community and common sense.
