Statement to voters
My name is Kim Slater and I am a Macc resident, living and working here for 23 years.
Full statement
I am a life-long resident of Cheshire East. I want to bring my experience of leading teams and delivering results in business to Cheshire East Council, where co-operation and common sense solutions for everyone in Macclesfield is my top priority.
My passion is supporting those who need it most:
- Prioritise social and affordable housing and tackle the cost of living
- Challenge the silence that allows domestic abuse and sexual violence to persist though increased advocacy, prosecution and prevention
- Insist on sustainable development that doesn’t destroy nature and our green spaces
- Invest in childcare so that all types of families can thrive, and women in particular can overcome the financial barriers to paid work
- Remove barriers for those with access needs from our shops, events and public spaces
- Champion public transport and ensure Macclesfield gets its share of new bus funding
- Restore dignity to those in social care by optimising how our budget is spent so that services can be improved
- Stand up for the rights of all no matter where from or how we identify.
I joined the Equality Party because I truly believe equality is better for everyone and that there is always a way to work together to find a solution.
If you feel that no-one should be left behind, please vote for Equality on your ballot. I will make sure you don’t regret it.
