Statement to voters
I have lived in Walthamstow for 20 years.
Full statement
I have actively helped build the incredible community spirit we have with an extensive list of volunteering locally including: volunteering at Eat or Heat our local food bank, co-founding Walthamstows first food pantry and refurbishing a building for a community living room that also provided early support to residents in need. I also co-founded Queens Boundary Community a resident’s group based in Markhouse ward.
Being part of protecting and enhancing our environment is important to me. I lead a local re-wilding group and together have greened Walthamstow Cemetery, a local park and rain gardens. Our cemetery meadow now hosts hedgehogs, bats, red list birds as well as rarer bees and butterflies.
I have organised a range of community cohesion events including park events, street parties, community iftars, exercise classes for women and children as well as commissioning Project Zero to support young adults in our local park.
I also chair my local Safer Neighbourhood Panel and volunteer for a local animal rescue charity.
My career has been focussed within the charity and Local Government sector: two key areas of focus leading projects tackling climate change and more recently providing homes for Grenfell survivors.
I am passionate about Councils and the positive outcomes that can be achieved when we get it right: enhancing outcomes for our residents and improving our environment. I have the knowledge and experience that will enable me to get to work right away and my neighbours next door in Markhouse Ward can confirm that I will work hard and deliver!
