Statement to voters

Across a 38-year career in the civil service, I spent 30 years working within the DWP, focusing on the detection and management of benefit fraud.

Full statement

During the last 10 years, I worked as an Analyst with the Benefit Fraud Inspectorate (BFI). In that role, I visited Local Authorities across the UK, looking at how they handled fraud and how their day-to-day administration worked. Those years gave me a strong understanding of how public services should operate and the practical skills needed to be an effective Councillor.

I’ve also been a resident of this ward for 38 years, and in that time, I’ve grown to know the area – and the people – very well. I’m aware of what works, what doesn’t, and what matters most to those who live here.

If elected, I’m confident I can make a genuine difference in how residents’ concerns are handled. I aim to be someone you can easily approach, speak to openly, and rely on when issues arise.

Becoming a Councillor would also give me the chance to give something back to the community and to EDC. My family and I have benefited greatly from living in this wonderful and unique part of Scotland, and I would welcome the opportunity to serve the people who make it such a special place.
