Statement to voters
After the Conservatives took £1bn from our city, things have been tough.

But under Labour we’re turning a corner. For the first time in a generation, we have a Labour Council, a Labour Mayor and a Labour Government all pulling in the same direction. We are seeing the impact of this partnership with £651m in additional funding secured to get Birmingham back on track.
I am one of 2 new Labour candidates in Harborne. Both myself and Dr Hasnain Khan want to contribute our professional experience – as a Chartered Accountant and Doctor – to help Harborne and our City.
Harborne is a great place to live and together we can make it even better.
Our plan for Harborne aims to:
- preserve its unique character by supporting local businesses;
- protect and enhance our green spaces to keep them clean and safe;
- strengthen community life by backing local groups that bring people together;
- develop a new in bike lane to connect Harborne with our City; and
- secure investment to repair our library building.
