Statement to voters

Craig (Vincent) Carden

I grew up around Otterspool Park, the waterfront and the Promenade.

Full statement

Those early years shaped my character. The waterfront was my training ground as I prepared to become a Royal Marine Commando, where I learned discipline, resilience, accountability, and leadership.

After my service, I built and led businesses, completed an MBA, an MRes, and a PhD (in progress 2018 - 2026), and now work in leadership development and organisational governance. I have designed and delivered leadership programmes for public authorities and major organisations, focusing on systems, accountability and practical execution.

I am standing as an Independent candidate because I believe local representation should focus on residents — not party politics.

If elected, my priorities will be:
• Road safety and congestion on Aigburth Road
• Flood prevention and proper maintenance of drains and gullies
• Tackling litter, fly-tipping and improving bin collection reliability
• Protecting Otterspool Promenade and our green spaces
• Improving transport connectivity and addressing parking concerns

I believe councillors should:
• Listen carefully before acting
• Base decisions on evidence, not ideology
• Be visible and accessible to residents
• Report back clearly and transparently

This ward helped shape who I am.
I want to serve it with steady, practical leadership and clear accountability.
