About Tom
I’m a Product Manager and I live in Leyton, near the Stadium.
Full statement
I’ve spent the last 8 years in education, working with teachers across London and the UK. Schools are a central part of any community and working closely with them has given me a grounding in engaging with difficult problems and a lifelong commitment to the value of listening to people.
Each person is an expert on their own life, and I believe that when governments and officials don’t listen, they tend to make things worse. I’ve been a resident in Waltham Forest for 2 years and I want to start working for the community I live in. I’m standing for the Green Party because for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful that politics could start to work for normal people again.
What Tom stands for
Previously, I’ve campaigned to support young people trying to get back into education after being off-rolled, and for the re-nationalisation of our water companies. Cann Hall deserves a local council that listens, and that puts people ahead of politics. I’ll fight to keep community spaces open and to make housing more affordable.
Too many people are being let down by institutions that should be protecting them. I’ll fight to help residents get the rights and support they’re legally entitled to. I’m running to be a Local Councillor for the Green Party because I want to be one more voice shouting against the flow of money out of communities and into the pockets of the super rich. The odds are stacked against normal people, and the only way to win is if huge numbers of normal people keep on calling for things to be fairer. I want to be one more person fighting for fairness.
