Full statement

I grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand, and was drawn to make St James my home because of its long history of artisans and makers. I own a small business, where I use my creative practice to imagine better futures.

I’ve used creativity to redesign parks, recruit teachers and help women advocate for better outcomes.

Having close family who are care-experienced, I know a well run council could change everything for our young people. Our ward has a once in a lifetime chance to vote for hope, and I want to be part of that.

What Anna Rose stands for

Labour has taken St James for granted and the evidence is on our streets: rising costs, dying trees, and young people with nowhere to go and nothing to do. We can’t afford a council that doesn’t work for us.

I want public money used to build community wealth for the long term. I want the council to invest proactively in the next generation rather than reacting when things go wrong.

And I want residents in the room when decisions get made about our futures, not told about them afterwards.
