KJ Eastwood is trying to serve the cause of the every-person and the most disenfranchised.

Standing up to bullies as a child has translated into standing up to global injustice in protests and volunteering with Black Lives Matter, Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Stand Up To Racism. KJ believes that now it’s time to bring that spirit into Lambeth Council. He has worked to coordinate efforts to pick up litter where the local Labour council has failed to employ adequate public health precautions particularly on densely populated estates. He has also co-run a monthly meet up for all Trans and Gender Non-Conforming folks to have time to wind down and enjoy some aspect of life. Like many of those reading this, KJ is fed up with the needs of the many being swept aside for the desires of the few.

With £33m being wasted on keeping council homes empty, there is no reasonable justification not to demand these homes be filled with those in the need, and the money being wasted be poured into reopening closed down GP surgeries and provided community spaces where people can connect and foster support and hope rather than fear and division. A better world is possible, as is a better London, but within our control so is a better Kennington, for all.

This isn’t done overnight, but so much can be changed in such a short period of time, looking across the pond at the results of the new Mayor of New York City proves just this. People don’t want to be promised a distant future of change, but a brighter today and tomorrow. We will do all we can to supply that.
