Sally has lived in Farnham since 2012, with her children attending All Hallows and taking part in local dance and performance groups that connected her family deeply with the town’s creative community.

Elected to both Waverley Borough Council and Farnham Town Council in 2018, she spent four years on the Western Planning Committee, consistently pushing for environmentally sensitive, higher quality housing. She also
chaired the Community Enhancement Working Group, overseeing Farnham in Bloom, street furniture, cleanliness and graffiti removal and recently helped deliver the Hale
Chapels renovation, improvements to local bus stops and supported the Farnham Literary Festival.

Alongside her council work, Sally is a digital marketing manager with experience at QinetiQ, Aerohive Networks and now Ericsson, and she is a published author of a YA sci-fi series and a speculative fiction novella collection under the pen name S. A. Melia.

Her priorities for Surrey are:
•Ensuring excellence in schooling and wider youth provision, with a strong commitment to addressing children’s mental health
•Championing and expanding the region’s creative industries, supporting makers, writers, artists and performers
