Statement to voters

I’m standing to be a District Councillor because local issues have been ignored for too long.

Full statement

I have lived in the village for 14 years with my family and have developed a strong understanding of its needs, priorities, and challenges. I was recently elected as a Parish Councillor for Impington and will work closely with fellow councillors to ensure local issues are identified and addressed through collaborative, community-focused governance.

Years of cuts from both Conservative and Labour governments have driven up inequality, anti-social behaviour and left our infrastructure crumbling, while the Lib Dem run council has failed to respond effectively. New estates are being built without the services they need, and basic repairs to roads and paths are continually overlooked. I want to change that.

I’ve been a strong community voice before. During my Natural Sciences degree, I served as a student and department representative, worked as a student union accessibility officer, and supported staff strikes for fair pay and better working conditions.

As a scientist and astronomy enthusiast, I believe in evidence-based decision-making to improve services for everyone. We know, for example, that youth centres reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and that communities thrive with more green spaces. As a disabled resident, I’m also committed to making our public spaces, facilities and services genuinely accessible.
