Laura Mackintosh is standing for Holyrood for the Equality Party for the first time on May 7th.

Laura's background is in the creative industries that are so important to Scotland. She worked extensively in theatre stage management before forming her own talent agency.

In recent years, Laura has forged a new career in law, starting as a Legal Secretary and working her way up to train as a Solicitor, specialising in family law and criminal law, with a particular focus on the workings of Scotland's justice system.

Laura is hugely frustrated with politicians making false promises, and with seeing hate and division in politics pushing out the grass roots issues that really matter to people.

Laura is determined to use her life experience, and her pure rage at those who talk and talk, and yet do nothing, to make a real difference to people who are not getting the fair treatment they deserve.

In her law career and through her own personal experiences as a parent, Laura has seen the holes in the justice and social care systems and the awful ways they can let parents and children down - leaving them mistreated and traumatised by the very system which is meant to prevent mistreatment and put an end to trauma.
Laura will never stop working to turn around those injustices and equalities.
