Statement to voters

I am proud and excited to have been selected to stand for election as Norfolk's next Police and Crime Commissioner.

Full statement

It gives me a great opportunity to bring the experience and knowledge I amassed over a long police career to make real changes in this fabulous place which, for the last 14 years, I have been delighted to call my home.

My police service was mostly in London, although I did work for 4 years in West Yorkshire and 2 in Surrey in the late 90s and early 2000s. I spent about half the time in uniform, mostly working on response teams up to the rank of Inspector, specialising also in public order policing.

As a detective I was involved in covert policing for some time and then mostly as a homicide detective, leading a major investigation team in London for 9 years. I was fortunate enough to build amazingly talented teams which led to major and high-profile successes.

I also spent a couple of non-operational years as staff officer to a Met Commander, learning much about the strategy of policing and authoring two major restructuring projects.

Since I retired I have written 3 books, co-authored 2 ITV dramas and written and presented true crime documentaries for Sky and Amazon.

I took the Reform job because I wanted to make a difference to how our nation has developed - and to try to correct its course. I am very conscious of the legacy we must leave our children and grand-children - and how we need to do everything possible to make their lives just as pleasant and safe as ours have been.

Policing is a vital service, security for all of us, our families, our homes and our workplaces must be non-negotiable.

I stand for common-sense policing of real-world problems, not virtue-signalling nonsense pandering to noisy minorities.

Please come out and vote for me. It is vitally important for all of us that the future Norfolk is safe, secure and prosperous.
