As your Green Party candidate for Kirkstall, I have big ambitions for improving our neighbourhoods.

We are of course lucky to live in a community with so many green areas, but I believe there is a lot that could be done to make those areas even better:

• Improving accessibility so that everybody can enjoy our green spaces
• Ensuring local nature spots are well-connected and abundant with wildlife
• Investing in new riverside footpaths and footbridges to make local green spaces safer and more walkable
• Finding ways to better manage of the resources we already have.

As a local party, we have been organising litter picks to keep our neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone, and we have even bigger clean-ups planned for the future.

I also believe there is much that can be done to make our community safer and more pedestrian friendly.

My plans for this include:

• Proper pedestrian crossings at the intersection of Wyther Lane and Broad Lane
• St Ann’s Lane becoming one-way at the Burley Road end
• Introducing traffic calming measures around Kirkstall Valley Primary School.

Labour have taken our area for granted for too long. We shouldn’t be expected to make do with second best. Our community deserves higher standards.

Together we can make Kirkstall a greener, healthier and more connected place to live.
