About Alex
Alex cares about people and community.Full statement
She is standing as a Green Party candidate to become a councillor in Calthorpe & Easington because she wants to be in a position to do more for the community. Alex lives and works in Banbury and also volunteers with local charities and wants to build on that sense of community if she is elected as councillor. Alex has worked in the hospitality and retail sectors, working her way up from shop floor to management.
Alex came to live and work in Britain from Lithuania 15 years ago. She has made her home here and lived and worked in Banbury for the last five years.
Running for District Council
Alex understands that change starts in your home and your own community. She has talked and listened to many people in the communities of Calthorpe & Easington to understand the issues that affect residents most. If elected to represent this ward on Cherwell District Council, Alex will do everything in her power to help fix the issues that affect residents daily lives.
The Green Party CAN WIN here in Calthorpe and Easington. Votes for Green Party candidates are NOT wasted votes.
The Green Party has gained a huge increase in support, both locally and Nationally over the last nine months. Membership has more than tripled nationally and quadrupled locally. The decisive Green win in the recent parliamentary by-election in Gorton and Denton and the decisive council by-election win in Margate where Greens overturned the incumbent Reform vote, serve to demonstrate what the Green Party can achieve.
Many people who have previously supported other parties are telling Alex they will be voting Green in this election. People are appreciating the Green Party message of hope and inclusion over the politics of division and exclusion espoused by other contenders and the failed policies of the Labour and Conservative two-party dominance.
If elected, Alex will prioritise the issues residents are telling her about:
Top of the list on many peoples’ minds is dealing with the state of roads. She will Work with other councillors to put pressure on the Government and the County council to properly fix the pot hole problem.
The need for new housing is fully understood. Plans must meet the needs for more homes and take full account of the impact on the local environment and needs of the local communities. Alex will work with other councillors to ensure plans include:
Sufficient local services and amenities;
Good, affordable public transport is in place to meet the needs of all local residents;
Major developments include access to development of good transport infrastructure including rail where appropriate to achieve net zero carbon emissions targets and avoid traffic congestion;
Enforce inclusion of sufficient housing that is truly affordable for local residents so that people do not have to move out of their local area to get on the housing ladder.
Alex supports creation of community hubs for young people. Centres of this nature provide:
Facilities and activities for young people to meet, socialise and provide an alternative to the more toxic aspects of social media;
They provide a place to build up social skills, receive training and find jobs.
Alex would promote Care in the Community to:
Encourage and promote events and activities by local residents that make Calthorpe & Easington a better community;
Look out for residents, especially the elderly or vulnerable to ensure that they get the support they really need;
Increase support for those that are homeless.
Alex would Campaign to stop the services in the Horton Hospital being reduced even further by:
Raising the issues with the hospital at all government levels;
Talking to local residents about the issues in the last Horton General Hospital ‘Care Quality Commission’ report that remain unaddressed.
