Statement to voters

I’m Stephen Claffey, and I’m standing to be your Liberal Democrat councillor for Great Paxton Ward.

Full statement

I live in Great Paxton with my family, and I care deeply about protecting village life across our ward, including Great Paxton, Great Gransden, Abbotsley, Waresley, Yelling and Toseland.

I’m not standing to play political games. I’m standing because too many local issues get left to drift, and people are fed up with not knowing who is responsible, what is being done, or whether anyone is properly listening.

As a parish councillor, I’ve already been involved in the kind of practical local work that matters to people, backing road safety improvements, supporting the village shop, helping push local issues forward, and working with residents and local bodies to get things moving.

That is how I believe local politics should work. Listen properly. Be visible. Understand the details. Work hard. Follow through.

If elected to Huntingdonshire District Council, I will focus on the things a good local councillor should focus on: strong representation, clear communication, protecting the character of our villages, supporting local services, and making sure rural communities are not overlooked.

I believe our area deserves a councillor who is rooted here, takes people seriously, and gets stuck into the issues that affect daily life.

If that is the kind of representation you want, I’d be grateful for your support.
