Statement to voters

Hi, I’m David Hooton, many people will recognise
me from my 9 years working for Halewood Town
Council, where I supported numerous local
community groups.

Full statement

I now work as a support worker in our
community, helping vulnerable adults to live
their lives as independently as possible.
I am also an active member and coordinator
the Halewood Over 50s Group, support local
dance troupes, and am actively involved in
organising and supporting the annual Easter
and Christmas character parades, as well as
the last pop-up Christmas events and prepared
and delivered Christmas dinners for residents in
the community who are alone at Christmas.

I have put myself forward to represent the community of Halewood North as an Independent candidate.
Until recently, I was a committed member of the Labour Party, but I resigned my membership in 2025 after becoming increasingly disillusioned with Labour locally in Knowsley and nationally. Time and again, residents were given false promises and pledges that were never delivered and often backtracked on.

Anti-social behaviour across the ward, the lack of local services, inadequate public transport, a promised Post Office that never materialised, and a Levelling Up bid that once again excluded Halewood North, have left residents feeling forgotten and ignored. Having worked in the Halewood community for many years, I have witnessed first-hand how much our area has lost under Knowsley-led Labour councillors and how much the South Ward has gained under the Independent Councillors and it is simply not good enough.

That is why I am standing as an Independent candidate for Halewood North.
I am passionate about helping, serving, and supporting my community. If elected as your Borough Councillor, I will stand up for what the people of Halewood North deserve. I will challenge Knowsley Borough Council at every opportunity to fight for the services, investment, and respect our community needs.
