Statement to voters

About

I was born in Kenya and moved to Milton Keynes as a child in 1976, when the city was still in its earliest stages of development.

Full statement

Growing up alongside Milton Keynes, I’ve seen first-hand how our community has evolved—and I even played a small part in its story, helping to create one of our famous concrete cows.

My career has been rooted in community and creativity. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, I worked to support and develop the arts in Milton Keynes, alongside involvement in youth work, counselling, and initiatives tackling homelessness across our city.

Coming from a family background in human rights and constitutional law, I’ve always believed in putting people at the heart of decision-making. I am committed to bringing that human-centred approach into local government—advocating for better council services, fairer planning, and housing that truly meets the needs of residents.

The pandemic revealed both the strength of our communities and the deep inequalities that persist. Like many, I became disillusioned with everyday politics—but that changed when I heard Zack Polanski speak. It renewed my sense of hope and purpose, and inspired me to stand as a local candidate to help turn that hope into real change for Milton Keynes.

Campaign Priorities

Milton Keynes’ greatest strength is its diversity—of culture, ideas, and people. As your councillor, I will work to harness these strengths to build a fairer, more inclusive city.

I will stand up to the negative impacts of developer-led housing by pushing for genuinely affordable homes and protecting the integrity of our communities. Tackling inequality—locally and across the city—will be central to everything I do, alongside improving how residents access and experience council services to ensure better outcomes for everyone, especially those most marginalised.

I am passionate about creating more opportunities for young people. By supporting arts, sports, and community initiatives—and working closely with local schools and organisations—I want to help young residents thrive and feel connected to their community.

Protecting our green spaces is also vital. Milton Keynes’ parks and lakes are essential to our wellbeing and identity. I will work with Milton Keynes City Council and The Parks Trust to safeguard these spaces, ensuring they remain healthy, accessible, and sustainable for future generations.

Above all, I believe in the power of community. Together, we can shape a city that reflects our shared values—fairness, opportunity, and care for one another. Let’s make hope something we live by every day, and work collectively to create a Milton Keynes we are all proud to call home.
