Statement to voters
About
After first walking around Willen Lake and seeing the Peace Pagoda, I instantly decided Milton Keynes was the place I wanted to live.
Full statement
Now entering my 6th year of residence, I really appreciate the perfect balance of nature and innovation the city thrives on.
Even though this is my first foray into the political world, I am highly adaptable and love to learn. Professionally, I am a software developer with an interest in writing, games (board and virtual), films, and sports.
Campaign Priorities
Honestly, priority number one is trying to stop those who perpetuate hate from gaining any more power. While this local election should focus on local issues, national politics will always cast a shadow over proceedings.
To that end, I am standing as a quieter, more empathetic protest vote for people wishing to express their displeasure at our current government.
This election is unique, where you have three votes, so if you are at all Green-curious, I would strongly recommend using at least one of your votes for Soraya. She is an excellent candidate. If you have another vote to spare then Roy is also a fantastic option.
If you want to use all three votes on Green candidates and I somehow ended up a councillor, my main focus will be around sustainability and ethical technological integration.
I will champion a platform for Real Energy Sovereignty: MK Energy for MK Residents - We should utilise the natural resources Milton Keynes has around us to heat and power as many Milton Keynes homes as we can. I will encourage community climate resilience, protecting ourselves against the instability of geopolitics in order to finally control spiralling gas and energy bills.
To achieve this ambition and more, I have the following proposals:
- Heat Willen Hospice with heat pumps from Willen Lake.
- Heat homes with heat pumps from the Grand Union Canal.
- Encourage the dual-use of our parking spaces by installing solar canopies over them to generate power for EVs and the grid.
- Ensure all new developments in the city (like Campbell Park North) are at a minimum net zero, with an emphasis on affordability.
- Stop the red route by Campbell Wharf from always flooding.
- Continue and expand the funding of the arts, while championing local talent and creativity.
- Ensure any council AI integration is implemented with an emphasis on empowering people, with a focus on upskilling them and never replacing them.
