Statement to voters
For those that don’t know me, my name is Rob Jamieson and I have the honour to be standing as the Reform UK candidate in the upcoming Norfolk County Council elections, specifically the Fakenham & Raynhams Division.
Full statement
This local election is going ahead now despite firstly being ‘postponed’ by the incumbent Conservative group at the County Council, and then subsequently being cancelled by the Labour Government before Reform UK successfully forced a U-turn!
I moved to Norfolk in 2013 to advance my project management career. Norfolk quickly became my forever home, and I married my wife at the beautiful Cley Windmill. My two children were born and attend schools here. As a Senior Project Manager, my professional life is focused on delivering multimillion pound flood defence refurbishment projects in Norfolk. As I care deeply about my local community I also dedicate some of my free time as an elected Town Councillor in Dereham where I am currently fighting to keep the town’s car parks free to use, and to curtail antisocial behaviour as part of a new multidisciplinary task force. I also volunteer as a local Beaver Scout Leader.
If elected to the County Council I will apply my varied and versatile project management skills at this strategic level of local governance and push for efficient service delivery, responsible spending, transparency, and effective communication with residents about how your money is being spent. Were you aware that Norfolk County Council is £884 million in debt, and that £627,000 of our council taxes is being spent on debt interest payments every week?
For too long, the main political parties have taken your vote for granted. Reform UK offers something different — straightforward, common-sense politics built on the values of family, community and country. Across the UK, more and more people are supporting Reform UK because they want change, and a party that will put hard working people first. We are now the biggest political party in the UK, and we are only just getting started.
Over the coming weeks, look out for my team and I, as we walk the streets and knock on doors in order to hear your concerns. We’ve covered over 30% of the division so far, and will keep at it right up until the polling day on the 7th of May. I hope you will consider giving me your support. Every single vote counts, and could really make the difference!
