Statement to voters

My name is Rachael, and I am proud to be a Norfolk resident.

Full statement

Having travelled extensively, I can say with certainty that there is no place like home. Norfolk’s stunning coastline, rich history, and strong sense of community are what make it so special, and they are exactly what I want to help protect and strengthen.

I trained as a nurse at the University of East Anglia and have worked across both NHS and private healthcare settings. Through this, I have seen firsthand the difference that accessible, high-quality care makes in people’s lives. I am passionate about protecting and supporting our NHS as a vital, life-saving service that must remain fair, sustainable, and available to everyone when they need it most.

I also care deeply about safeguarding Norfolk’s natural environment. Living in a protected habitat has given me a real appreciation for the importance of biodiversity and the need to protect our green spaces. From the swallowtail butterfly to essential pollinators like bees, these ecosystems are part of what makes our county unique. I am committed to finding the right balance between development and environmental responsibility as we work towards a net zero future.

As someone who is neurodivergent and was diagnosed later in life, I understand the importance of being heard and properly supported. I will advocate for stronger, more effective SEND provision that works for families and individuals, ensuring no one is left behind.

I am also deeply aware of the growing gap between those who have access to support and those who struggle to get it. Having relied on social care during periods of long-term illness, I understand how essential these services are. I will work to ensure fair access to social care and fight for a system that treats everyone with dignity and respect.

I am standing because I care about our community and want to be a strong, approachable voice for local people. I will listen, act, and work hard to protect what matters most to Norfolk—our health services, our environment, and our sense of fairness.

Together, we can build a community that works for everyone.
