Statement to voters

I have lived in Bingley all my life and care deeply about our community.

Full statement

I went to Beckfoot School, I am a graphic designer, and I previously served as a Bingley Town Councillor.

My background is in communication and public-facing roles. One of the biggest problems with Bradford Council is poor communication with residents. Too often, people feel ignored while local services get worse and valued local places are neglected or sold off. I want to help change that.

I know how important it is for local people to have representatives who listen properly, keep people informed, and speak up clearly when something is not right. Good representation matters, especially when so many decisions are made away from the communities they affect.

I have supported residents in promoting biodiversity, taken part in community litter picks, campaigned to protect green spaces from inappropriate development, campaigned for better buses in rural areas, and was involved in the district-wide campaign to stop library closures, including Bingley Library.

For me, being a councillor is about listening to residents, understanding local concerns, and standing up for the area when decisions are being made. It is about making sure people are heard, not shut out.

Bingley West covers Bingley town centre, Cottingley, Wilsden, Harden and Cullingworth. Across the ward, people want better services, planning decisions they can trust, protected green spaces, and local places that are cared for properly.

My priorities are:

  • Protect green spaces
  • Oppose the short-term sell-off of community assets
  • Push for better services
  • Improve communication from Bradford Council
  • Make sure residents are listened to and kept informed

I am proud to be standing alongside Cath Bacon and Rachael Drucquer in Bingley West.

Because the ward boundaries have changed, this year’s council election is an all-out election. That means voters in Bingley West can choose up to 3 candidates.

On 7 May, I hope you will consider voting for John Brazendale, Cath Bacon and Rachael Drucquer in Bingley West.
