Kate Chinn is standing as one of the candidates in Town and Downs Ward.

After qualifying as a mental health nurse Kate has had a long career working in London in mental health, health, housing and homelessness. She moved to the borough in the early 90s settling and raising her family here except for a brief period when the family moved to Delhi. In Delhi Kate worked in two camps in the city improving sanitation, with the help of the then DFID, as well as providing improved access to healthcare and education.

Kate was privileged to be elected as councillor in Court Ward in 2015 and re-elected twice has continued as a ward councillor. With her fellow councillors she is out on the doorsteps most
weekends and present in the community listening to and working for the people she represents.

Kate welcomes the opportunity to be elected in the ward where she lives. Tackling the indecision over the chalk pit which causes air pollution and noise as well and the lack of political direction with the local plan would be two of Kate’s priorities. Decisions which are
needed have been pushed from pillar to post for years. Action is needed and the current representatives are part of the problem not the solution.
