Statement to voters

I am the third generation of our family to live in Waterlooville and consider it home.

Full statement

I bought my first house here nearly 20 years ago, so my family and I have witnessed first hand the decline in our services and High Street.

Most of my working life has been spent as a plumber although I moved up the ranks to become a senior mechanical engineer in building services for a company in Waterlooville. This has given me a wealth of practical experience including project and contract management, so I have a unique view on delivering solutions to real world problems.

In my spare time, and for the last 12 years, I have been part of a children's motorcycle display team. I began as an assistant, worked my way up to chairman and was also senior trainer handling local training sessions and public performances. From this I learned about teaching, leadership, and public speaking - and the pleasure of giving back to my community.

I am also heavily involved in renewable technologies that actually save money without the need to pursue the mantra of net zero. Common sense and cost effective solutions to everyday challenges.

If elected, my objective will be to make every pound of taxpayer money count. I will root out inefficiencies and pay particular attention to contracts and how much value they deliver. I want to see the effective regeneration of our town centre, projects that add value to our community and more. I want to see radical improvements in the quality of road maintenance with a greater focus on long term solutions rather than ineffective quick fixes.

Finding real solutions to our problems needs effective coordination between local and county representatives and this is why I am standing as both your local borough candidate and also your county council candidate. I promise commitment, effective communication and fresh ideas.
