Profession: Outreach Manager
Education: BA (Hons.) Economics & Development Studies (SOAS: London), Former President of SOAS Students' Union
Resident of South Hornchurch Ward.

Candidate will strive for...

  1. Investment in roads, lamposts for the improvements of the ward’s infrastructure. Many local roads have potholes and in need of new ashphalting. Reflecting the fact, there has been no investment in local infrastructure for the last few years.

  2. Currently there is no community space in the ward. One centre that exists is not serving the communitys' needs. It is vitally important to have sufficient community space to serve the growing community.

  3. Library is not just a learning space but where people come together from all walks of life for learning and social cohesion. We need our library back.

  4. For a community to flourish and to create a culture of care for everyone and togetherness. I want to bring the residents, especially its’ senior citizens, who contributed much to the ward under one roof to revitalise community spirit.

  5. Food Bank – I want to forge links with the local supermarkets to supply surplus of food items to be distributed for free for people in need in the Ward.

  6. This ward has gone through enormous demographic changes in the last few years, many people have made their home here. Our representation body needs to reflect this demographic change and embrace it for the good.

  7. There have been reports of crime such as burglaries; this must stop by making law enforcement more effective.

  8. Unnecessary restriction on car movements in school areas creating much inconvenience for many residents, including incurrence of fines. We must review this to make and keep transportation normal for everyone. Children safety around school areas needs to be reviewed in light to alternative effective measures such as speed limit and cameras in place to enforce it rather than complete ban on cars during certain hours.

  9. In built up areas such as on South End Road there must be speed limits enforced including cameras, speed bumps to reduce accidents and improvement the safety of residents.

  10. Allocation of council housing must be prioritised for those who live in the ward.

Vote your Independent candidate Mushtaq Ahmad for a fresh approach and change for a better ward and borough.
