Statement to voters

I am a local Enfieldian of almost 15 years, having grown up in several wards.

Full statement

I am a neuroscience graduate from QMUL and a former RAFAC Cadet Warrant Officer with a passion for colourwork crochet, reading, and ecology.

I joined the Green Party because I am tired of being angry at our local and national government's failures to represent and serve us. I know the Green Party to be a beacon of hope and of our true potential as a nation for all. If elected as a councillor for the Enfield Green Party, I will bring the transparency, dedication, and integrity Enfield desperately needs to steer it safely into the uncertain future.

I am a person of integrity who champions transparency, honesty, and local democracy. A vote for me will bring accountability to our local council.

I am a domestic abuse survivor who is determined to create safe escape and support networks for victims. As a councillor, I will advocate for the ring-fencing of safe houses from future building projects for those escaping domestic abuse, enabling them to stay with their children and pets, and support every initiative that will feasibly protect victims of every background.

I am an outspoken advocate against bigotry and the politics of hate. As a human being, I adamantly oppose the rise of fascism in UK politics and will not allow it to poison the heart of our community. I support the cultural and ethnic diversity of Enfield for the strength and richness it brings to our community. As a councillor candidate and citizen of Enfield, I endeavour to restore our pride in our home. As a councillor, I will advocate for honesty and accountability from our local police services, holding them to account where they fall below standard in serving our communities and keeping us safe.

I am a staunch anti-war candidate who will stand firmly against arms lobbyists, funding sourced from the arms industry, and the narratives of warmongers seeking to divide, exploit, and harm us. I support the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement, not only for Palestine, but for every state or group committing atrocities against humanity. I believe peace is the only way forward for ourselves and our children, and am ready to fight for it on our local level and beyond. As a councillor, I will work with allies to redirect investment into local businesses instead of companies and individuals complicit in genocide and crimes against humanity, investing in Enfield's future, not bombs.

I am an environmentalist. As a councillor, I will fight to protect Enfield's beloved green belt spaces and our precious biodiversity. Human development can and must be done in accordance with nature to sustain us into the future. This means I will fight for environmental protections, such as opposing the Whitewebbs park development plans and the plans to introduce plastic into the Edmonton incinerator, preventing the devastating consequences on the health and safety of every living being in and around Enfield from the resulting toxic contamination and pollution. It also means I will advocate for the inclusion and expansion of nature-friendly initiatives in Enfield, such as the development of safe hedgehog highways in urban areas and changes to street lighting to support our local bat populations. I also support the rewilding of of small-scale green spaces, reintroducing and supporting native flower and grass species into our verges to support our vital, declining insect and bird species. I believe that environmentalism without social justice is futile and will fiercely advocate for the protection and improvement of Enfield's environmental health regardless of postcode, particularly combatting fly-tipping, illegal waste dumping, and investing in long-term solutions for safe, efficient waste disposal. As a councillor, I will campaign for expanding green industries in Enfield, including widening the provision of skills such as forestry and sustainable engineering, to provide jobs and security in our changing climate. I will also work alongside external agencies, such as TfL, in developing safer, accessible public transport infrastructure that local citizens actually want and can use.

Fundamentally, I am a candidate who seeks to listen, serve, and support our community through the difficult, uncertain, and sometimes scary times we are now in.

The future is Green 💚
