Although I have been a Liberal Democrat for many years, this is the first time that I have been involved in politics. I decided to stand for election because I love living here and want to contribute to the local area. We hosted a Ukrainian family for 9 months shortly after the start of the war and we were moved by the support and kindness of local residents and councillors at both town and district level.

My background is in science - I have a doctorate in physics. For the last few years I have run a large business in the legal sector with over 250 employees across the UK and mainland Europe. I believe that my legal, financial and analytical skills will make me an effective District Councillor, able to advocate strongly on behalf of local residents and hold the Council to account over budgetary decisions. I enjoy solving complex problems and helping people - I’m particularly concerned to ensure that those in most need are properly shielded from the ongoing cost of living challenges. I am planning a positive campaign and hope to represent residents in a collaborative and evidence based way if I am elected, informed by Liberal values of fairness and respect for all.

There is no doubt that the UK faces some very significant challenges at a national level but I am keen to focus on local matters - protecting the green space in and around Epping is something about which I am passionate. I’m particularly concerned with the amount of proposed development in and around Epping and the lack of planned infrastructure growth to accommodate that.

So even if you are not a natural Liberal Democrat voter, I hope you will lend me your vote on 7 May, and I promise to work hard in representing you effectively.
