Statement to voters

Hello I’m Jasmine, I live here in Worthing with my family.

Full statement

I am passionate about Worthing, its people, and protecting what makes our community special. I’m incredibly proud to be standing for Goring Ward with the Green Party.

Worthing Green Party’s priorities are clear: clean water, safer roads, and genuinely affordable housing. These are the issues residents raise time and again, and where we know we can make a real difference. Alongside this, I would love to see a safe, well-designed cycle infrastructure that works for everyone — something I hear strongly from fellow cyclists and from those who joined our brilliant Kidical Mass ride which brought together over 100 cyclists for a fun, positive, and unifying community event. I am an avid cyclist myself but as a car driver for work, I fully understand how important cars are in daily life. That’s why I also strongly support improving public transport, giving people more practical and sustainable alternatives.

I’ve already been actively involved in local campaigning. A friend and I worked to prevent the closure of the Barrington Road footpath during the Bellway Homes Queen Elizabeth development. After listening carefully to residents, we pushed for a wide, safe path with proper drainage and lighting, while also protecting the rich diversity of local flora and fauna. We organised a petition, brought residents’ voices to planning meetings, and successfully secured many of these improvements. Clare and Ian have continued this work, ensuring trees and hedging are replanted.

I’m proud to be campaigning alongside Clare and Ian, who have already done so much for Goring. This is a crucial Borough election, and the Green Party is in a strong position. The more Green Councillors we elect, the more we can deliver for our communities – and we need to see Ian representing us at West Sussex County Council.

As a Senior Community Development Worker, I listen to the needs of people from all walks of life, helping to build more connected communities. A key part of my role is reducing isolation in rural areas, particularly among those aged 65+, where transport can be a major barrier. I’ve helped people access the support they need, with life-changing results.

If elected, I would work hard for the residents of Goring – listening carefully, giving my time, and doing everything I can to protect and enhance the ward we all care about. I would be honoured to represent you, advocate for you, and ensure your voice is heard.
