My whole world widened as I moved to place as diverse and full of life as London. Wanting to learn more and challenge myself, I have completed a Master’s degree at the London School of Economics in Social Anthropology during Covid. I now work in recruitment at an international company, talking to new people every day. I have moved out from my parents’ house and into Enfield two years ago, and I love the neighbourhood. I would like to start a family here, and live in a place where I am excited to raise kids and call home. I care deeply about this community and I would like to get to know as many of my neighbours as I can.
Why am I standing?
I cannot stand by as the UK government supports genocide abroad and erodes hard fought democratic and human rights at home. I cannot stand by as ordinary people get poorer while billionaires not only enrich themselves at everybody else’s expense, but also bankroll the rise of fascism and the fossil fuel industry that destroy the very Earth we live on. If I don’t do everything I can do now, there will be no future for me, my kids or anyone else.
Why is it important to vote ECI?
ECI is the only local group that care about the area and it’s made up of ordinary citizens who know we deserve better. This is a pivotal moment in UK electoral history, when for the first time in a century both Labour and the Tories are on the back-foot. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the status quo and reverse decades of decline in social services and social housing. It is time to reverse the rise of hateful rhetoric and wealth inequality. People voted for change after 14 years of Tories and did not get it. Labour is only delivering the same. It is time for real change!
