I am a passionate, tenacious and driven candidate who will stand up and be the voice for the people of Ryde South East

I am a current Ryde Town Councillor for Ryde South East, having been elected in first place in May 2025.

I have worked hard to represent our Ward and have not shied away from scrutinising and pushing for clarity.

I worked tirelessly behind the scenes and helped save Oakfield Primary School from closure. I have also successfully challenged spending at Ryde Town Council, as a member of the finance committee and am not afraid to point out possible issues and money saving strategies.

I believe we need to vote for the best local candidate, and leave main party politics for the General Election in 2029.
We need someone who has demonstrated genuine care and concern for Ryde South East, not a paper candidate or someone living elsewhere on the island, who may struggle to connect with people in our Ward due to living outside of it and not understanding the wishes of the people who live here.

I have aligned with the island Liberal Democrats, as I believe them to be the most genuine, compassionate and caring Councillors currently serving on the Isle of Wight. We need change and I honestly think these Councillors to be integral to this change, with their people centred approach, as, instead of doing TO people, these Councillors believe things should be done FOR people. I wholeheartedly agree!

I believe myself to be the best candidate and I hope you will agree by voting Jen Hughes on 7th May 2026.
