Born in the UK to South American parents, Andre spent many years overseas, and when he came back, East Grinstead became his home.

For almost five years, he has lived in Imberdown with his wife and kids, building strong, genuine connections with the people and places here. He has spent these years working in education, teaching young people across secondary schools, which has deepened his commitment to supporting the community.

Professionally, he works as a Humanities Teacher. His experience includes:

• Secondary school teaching
• Working with SEND students
• Community involvement with Blackwell Primary School (supporting the PTA), Participation in East Grinstead Community and Leisure Centre, Volunteering with the local Scout, Regular attendance at town events

“My priority is to support our future generations and their environment, giving them hope in an achievable and realistic way, and strengthening their connections with our local communities, which are our pillars, especially in these uncertain times. I am committed to supporting our local schools by offering the help they need and acting as one of the intermediaries between them, governors, Mid Sussex Council, and West Sussex Council.

I am also focused on protecting our green spaces and promoting more community action to keep them safe, including much-loved areas like Worth Way. Improving opportunities for young people’s wellbeing is equally important to me, and I aim to work with local partners to increase access to leisure, sport, and safe environments. I also want to encourage more support and discussion sessions within our community to help improve young people’s mental and physical health.”
