Independent Candidate for Bexhill East
A Practical Plan for Our Community
I am standing as an Independent candidate for Bexhill East on East Sussex County Council to put local people first—without party politics, and with a clear focus on delivering real results.
Full statement
This is a practical plan focused on the issues that matter most in Bexhill: adult social care, housing, education, transport, and our roads.
⸻
Adult Social Care – Urgent Action Needed
Adult social care is one of the biggest challenges facing our area. Bexhill has a growing older population, and many families are already feeling the strain from delays, lack of support, and overstretched services.
Too often, people are waiting too long for assessments, struggling to arrange care, or stepping in themselves when services fall short. This also puts pressure on local NHS services, with people stuck in hospital because care isn’t in place.
My priorities:
• Reduce waiting times for care assessments and support packages
• Improve access to home care so people can stay independent for longer
• Support unpaid carers with better respite services and advice
• Push for better coordination between care services and the NHS
• Stand up for care workers and highlight staffing shortages
• Ensure local concerns are heard and acted on quicklyIn Bexhill East, this matters because:
• Demand for elderly care is rising
• Families are increasingly acting as carers themselves
• Local health and care services are under pressure
• Delays and gaps in support are affecting real people every dayThis is not a distant issue—it is affecting families across our community now, and it needs urgent, practical attention.
⸻
Housing & Social Housing – Homes for Local People
Too many people in Bexhill East are being priced out of the area, while housing developments don’t always reflect local needs.
My priorities:
• Increase genuinely affordable housing based on local incomes
• Prioritise local residents and key workers
• Bring empty and underused properties back into use
• Improve standards in private rented housing
• Support balanced development with proper infrastructure⸻
Education – Supporting Every Young Person
Families deserve confidence that children will get the support and opportunities they need.
My priorities:
• Improve SEND provision and reduce delays
• Ensure reliable school transport
• Support mental health services for young people
• Strengthen links between education and local jobs and skills⸻
Transport – Better Connections for Bexhill
Transport is essential for work, education, and daily life, but too often it doesn’t meet local needs.
My priorities:
• Improve reliability and frequency of bus services
• Support more affordable travel options
• Improve coordination between bus and rail services
• Back practical improvements to walking and cycling routes⸻
Highways – Fixing What Matters
Road maintenance is a constant concern for residents.
My priorities:
• Ensure potholes are repaired quickly and properly
• Improve road safety, especially near schools and busy routes
• Provide clearer communication on roadworks
• Make sure Bexhill receives fair investment⸻
Why Independent?
As an Independent, I will:
• Put Bexhill first—not party interests
• Make decisions based on what works locally
• Work with anyone who delivers results
• Be directly accountable to residents⸻
A Commitment to Bexhill
This campaign is about practical action and common sense.
Listening to residents, standing up for the community, and focusing on real improvements.Bexhill deserves better—and I am standing to help deliver it.
