Statement to voters

My name is Raul Mancera.

Full statement

Born in Colombia, I’ve lived in England for 37 years.
I hold a Master’s degree in Financial Markets & Information Systems (London Metropolitan University) and worked 16 years in Financial company (City of London). I led Pueblito Paisa, a Latin American market association in Seven Sisters, and chaired the FSB London North East Branch.
Currently, a Real Estate Agent.

I am standing as a candidate for Reform UK for the different policies the party is promoting in the local elections. Nonetheless, let me tell you about five false MYTHS the extremists are saying about Reform UK.

MYTH 1: “Reform UK is racist and far-right!”

Not true! Reform UK is a democratic party that welcomes members and candidates from all backgrounds and communities. Seven Sisters ward is one of the most diverse areas in Haringey.
In fact, the two candidates the party is presenting for this election are from a Latino and a Jewish-Latino background, respectively! We believe in treating everyone equally, which means focusing on merit, fairness, and the issues that unite our community: safer streets, better and accountable local government. That’s why Raúl and Miguel Baruc, after living both in the UK for over 20 years, are now standing as candidates!

MYTH 2: “Reform UK will privatise the NHS!”

False! Reform UK does not propose privatising the NHS. The party supports a tax-funded, free-at-the-point-of-use health service. Reform UK’s proposals focus on cutting NHS bureaucracy, increasing frontline staffing, and reducing waiting times. At Council level, Reform UK will also push for better-funded social care to relieve pressure on local hospitals and GP surgeries.

MYTH 3: “Reform UK is a single-issue party that only cares about immigration!”

In reality, Reform UK has comprehensive local government policies covering council-tax reduction, planning reform, housing delivery, public safety, and cutting bureaucratic waste. At the local level, Reform UK councillors will focus on the bread-and-butter issues that affect your daily life: bins, roads, parks, housing, and keeping your streets safe. Immigration policy is set at Westminster. Your local Reform candidates are focused on making your Council work better for you.

MYTH 4: “Reform UK will cut public services!”

That’s not true! Reform UK’s approach is to cut waste, not services. Haringey Council is facing severe financial pressure due to rising temporary accommodation (TA) costs, which increased by 42% to £33 million, with projections suggesting a £41 million spend in 2025/26. Over 2,600 households are in TA as of late 2025, with costs rising due to reliance on expensive nightly lets, forcing a projected £11.7 million budget overspend. Reform UK will audit every council contract, eliminate wasteful consultancy spending, and redirect money to the front-line services you actually need.

MYTH 5: “Reform UK does not care about the Environment!”

Of course we do! Reform UK supports practical environmental measures, such as cleaner streets, more trees, protecting green spaces such as the Tottenham Area Parks, and proper recycling services.
What we oppose is wasteful virtue-signalling policies that cost millions but achieve nothing measurable. Reform UK Councils across the country continue environmental work under practical, affordable frameworks, not unachievable “net-zero by 2030” targets that drive up unnecessary costs.

ON 7th MAY, VOTE REFORM UK!
